Life and Afterlife
Note: this is a bit of a seamless episode, where monologues lead directly into segments. I guess you could classify each act as two. I won’t, though.
Act I
Summary
Jon muses over a few things that make him feel young, such as putting his shoes on the wrong feet. He ends up bringing ZouZou into the studio to ask her about some of the “lingo” that young people use. Words covered: emo, scremo, random. Josh dissects the fine distinctions between emos, goths and Karpatis.
Featuring
- Jonathan Goldstein
- Joshua Karpati
- Arizona O’Neill
Etc.
- I’d like to note that Arizona first started appearing on the air when she was something like 9. In this episode she’s 13 and her voice is drastically lower. It’s like she’s hooked up to the machine from A Fresh New Voice.
Act II
Summary
Buzz Goldstein gets an iPod shuffle from the bank. Jon calls him on the phone to discuss the memoir that he has begun typing on his computer.
Featuring
- Jonathan Goldstein
- Buzz Goldstein
Act III
Summary
Jon writes in his diary in the wee hours of the morning, conflicted over the fate of his eternal soul. Later, he receives a cold call from the Atheist’s Club.
Featuring
- Jonathan Goldstein
- Maria Bamford
Etc.
